COMPANY HISTORY

In 1993, after living and volunteering in the Berthoud community for over 17 years, 8 of which she spent as a Realtor in another office, Marian Maggi took advantage of an opportunity to establish her own firm, Maggi Town & Country Real Estate, Inc. Her son Gary had graduated from CSU the previous year and joined her in helping with all aspects of starting the new company from picking out the new logo, setting up the office, hiring an office assistant, establishing bank accounts, setting up the computer and accounting systems, to advertising, marketing, and more.

The first 5 weeks the business operated out of Marian’s home and December 1, 1993 the office opened at 344 Mountain Avenue (next door to the current location). The new company “hit the ground running” with listings and sales of pre-owned houses. In early 1994, Maggi T&C began marketing Berthoud Heights West as its exclusive listing agency.

As the company grew it spilled over into an old tin shed that was on the vacant lot beside the building. In 1996 the company built the building that it occupies today. Maggi T&C marketed lots at Foothills Estates, Goose Hollow, and Keep Subdivision. In 1997 the company began marketing Mary’s Farm, a subdivision of semi-custom homes reminiscent of the 30’s and 40’s in southeast Berthoud. This subdivision is Maggi’s proudest accomplishment and has received accolades and been the subject of many articles, including one in the Rocky Mountain News. The concept, tree-lined streets, front porches, detached sidewalks and garages was developed through the efforts of several people, and has been the inspiration for other “new urbanism” communities in the northern Colorado area.

In 2003, Gary Maggi and Marian Maggi “switched hats,” Gary becoming the managing broker and Marian taking over comptroller duties. Gary and Marian are now partners in the business.

Maggi T&C has listed and sold pre-owned houses both in town and in the surrounding rural area. Maggi maintains a strong market share in an area that has become more regional, due to the increased use of the Internet, and a wider area covered by the Multiple Listing Service including Boulder, Greeley, Longmont, Loveland, Berthoud, Ft. Collins and more.

Maggi T&C has become a full-spectrum real estate service provider, offering new and pre-owned home sales, farm and ranch brokerage, commercial sales and lease management, property management, and buyer representation.

Today, Maggi Town & Country Real Estate, Inc. employs ten real estate brokers that are also integral participants in the community. The company provides real estate service in a wide area, but certainly specializes in the Berthoud community, and is proud of its knowledge of the Berthoud market.
